Clarke County completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Clarke County just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region one with a 3-4 region record. Since 2010, Clarke County has gone a combined 34-40. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Clarke County has managed to compile a record of 160-125. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 3A and 119th in the AHSAA. Chris Young leaves Clarke County after just one season with a 4-6 record. Stacy Luker arrives at Clarke after spending the last two seasons down the road at Demopolis. His two seasons produced a 17-7 record. He has won 188 games as a head coach at Washington County, Thomasville and Sweet Water in twenty-one seasons. Coach Luker will bring a winning spirit to the Clarke County program that has not had a lot of success in recent years. Coach Luker's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 188-73 (72.0%). His 188 wins rank th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Luker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eighteen times and won ten region championships. He has a 42-13 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. Coach Luker won five state championships prior to arriving at Clarke County, the last coming in 2010 at . The Clarke County Bulldogs will play in Class 3A region one during the 2017 season. The Bulldogs have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 68-50 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 3A and 33rd in the AHSAA. With a little luck and some improvement, the Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Clarke County came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Bulldogs open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Jackson on Thursday, August 31 at H.G. Prim Stadium. Last year the Jackson Aggies finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in third place in Class 5A region one. The Aggies lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 5A playoffs to Beauregard by a score of 45-25. Clarke County and Jackson have met a total of 106 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 31-68-7 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2016 with Jackson winning by a score of 33-14. Clarke County returns 3A All-State Junior receiver Javon Ivory.
